Santorini

So we had a memorable last nite in Crete... Just dancing till 7:30 a.m. at the club .. then next day we went to Elfonesis beach... it was amazingly beautiful...then we took a bus from Chania to Heraklion...arrived there at 12:15am... then kina crashed at the city of Herakion..it was a wonderful nite to stay there coz apparently "Greece" just won the FIBA basketball Finals..and everyone was going crazy.. you see guys honking in there cars... with the greek flags..and singing and dancing.. it was fun..!!!!!!!!!!! Then I crashed in front of a library...yes..lying on the floor like a homeless person..then took a ferry at 7:30am to Santorini....

Santorini..santorini...
its the most beautiful place on earth... the sunset in Oia is absolutely magnificant... and u can just see the beautiful blue church and white houses.. everything I imagined was rite there in front of my eyes.. And today.. I met one of our neighbours.. Doug..who was a really cool guy..he introduced us to his friends who stayed at a really NICEEEEEEEEEEEEee hotel..which had a pool facing the sea.. and so we went there to swim in the pool..and hang out..it was sooooooooo beautiful...and later this evening ... we're going to FIRA..the biggest town in Santorini to go clubbing..

life is good here... haha

Can you believe this pool in the hotel?

Crete Xania

Hong Kong -> Thailand (1hr)
Thailand ground wait (1hr)
Thailand -> Dubai (6hrs)
Dubai ground wait (6hrs)
Dubai -> Athens (4.5hrs)
Athens ground wait (8hrs)
Athens -> Chania (1hr)

Thats my horrific flight schedule.. but finally I arrived to Chania.. and during my ground time in Athens I took the metro and went walking at the Acropolis by myself. After 20 hours of flight time, it was really tiring to walk up the hill, with my blood circulation all down on my legs I thought they were about to explode during my walk.

Acropolis Pathenon

Then I sat at a cafe for half an hour then headed back to the airport.
During my flight, Mariko called me on my cell and weirdly enough..my phone rang 10000 ft ABOVE the air and we were about to land. Everyone then looked at my direction and gave me the look of "You are gonna kill us all with that electronic device of yours" so i just quickly turned it off.

Anyway we survived the flight and I arrived to Xania.

Mariko and Nico picked me up then we went to a nice cafe on top of the hill then back to Fidias for my resting.

The next day we went to a nice beach and I had the nicest dinner at a cafe overlooking the shore. (we had greek salad, moukassas, pasta with pork , cheese pie, and some desert with wine) Yummy!!!!!!!

Cute kid at the beach

After that me and Mariko went partying at a pub where our roomate "Penny" was working..it was a fun and nice night, maybe too much drinking but i'll just leave it at that..

Shanghai ... Qing Dao ...

No internet for a week.. its harder than I thought!!!

During my stay at Shanghai.. I did try to look at some apartments in Shanghai... the price weren't as low as I wanted them to be.. but I must find one near my workplace. A weird incident occured as I was brought apartment hunting by a local agent. I was set to meet him near a junction of Rui Jin Lu and Zhao Ja Ban Lu at 6:00pm, as I didnt have a local number and I didn't want to spend a fortune on roaming..so I just told him what I would wear for him to identify me.. Luckily he did..then something REALLY unexpected occured...
He asked me to hop on the back of his bike (NOTE: bike as in BICYCLE not MOTORBICYCLE).. and so I did.. I tried to sit perpendicular to the back wheel..then I hit my back of my left foot on the wheel... (Painful with a bruise.. I did try to pretend that it didn't hurt)

He said: "Haven't u ever did this?"
My mind said: "Errrrrrr No.. WTF.. I have never rode on the back of a bicycle as my transportation to look for apartments before"
He said: "Don't they have this in HK?"
My mind said "Are you #@$%^& crazy? No.........!"
What I really said " I don't think so.. I haven't tried it before"

After he taught me the proper way to sit .. we were off !! We were on the roads with cars and probably a billion other bikes on the road...then we crossed a major intersection (it was the scariest moment.... I thought I was going to be hit by a bus and a car at the same time)

Finally we arrived..and the apartments were quite nice..as it was a nice neighbourhood..but I swear I have to change the freakin furniture if i do get it....hmm I did find out they had a HUGE IKEA somewhere in Shanghai...

NOW..I am in Qing dao and the weather is absolutely lovely. Nice breeze and a great coastline, it would be a great getaway in China. Aparently they have a lot of European style resident architechture and I thought I WAS in Germany for a brief moment..then it sorta lapsed when the driver started to drive on the other side of the road with oncoming traffic..but hey... that's China...

Swing Girls

Swing Girls - Directed by Shinobu Yaguchi (who also directed Waterboys)
A story about some defiant young girls who accidentally food-poisoned their school band. They are held accountable to perform for their upcoming baseball game, but the school band recovers and the girls are left with nothing but their new found love for Jazz. Eventually they start their own band, and through the hick-ups and downturns, they perform and win the love from the crowd of the music competition.
Comparing with the last film Waterboys, Swing girls undoubtly has less comedic relief as the prior but it definitely is a much more heartwarming and sentimental piece as I walked out of the cinema smiling and found myself storming to a nearby CD store and Jazz Pub. The main theme of the piece was about how life may seem boring and purposeless, you may find your love (in this case music) and be inspired and its ALL good......

oh i do love jazz...

Marching Bands of Manhattan

Just finished some bball with my friends.. Im gonna miss that a lot when Im in Shanghai.. but during da game I felt a sore throat emerging..oh pls don't let me be sick . On the side note.. I have been listening to songs from my latest fave band "Death Cab for Cutie" rigorously.. and the song that I have been playin over and over again (yes.. I tend to do that ..when i go crazy for a song) is "Marching Bands of Manhattan" ..its just so sorrowful and mellow. Anyway.. kudos to Kevin aka Wooly for introducing me to so many indie bands...eventho nobody will see this post coz i haven't told anyone about this site yet. WEIRD? maybe.. or just maybe i feel like knowin me better before lettin other ppl read n analyse me... i like being a loner and secluded.. =p

Marching Bands of Manhattan

If I could open my arms
And span the length of the isle of Manhattan
I'd bring it to where you are
Making a lake of the East River and Hudson
And if I could open my mouth
Wide enough for a marching band to march out of
They would make your name sing
And bend through alleys and bounce off other buildings

I wish we could open our eyes
To see in all directions at the same time
Oh what a beautiful view
If you were never aware of what was around you
And it is true what you said
That I live like a hermit in my own head
But when the sun shines again
I'll pull the curtains and blinds to let the light in

Sorrow drips into your heart through a pinhole
Just like a faucet that leaks and there is comfort in the sound
But while you debate half empty or half full
It slowly rises, your love is gonna drown
Your love is gonna drown
