Slapping Happy Christmas Eve

With a heavy drinking Xmas eve hosted by a party animal, things were bound to get out of hand. And IT DID. Oh God, I really need to get that MEAN drunk outta me. After a crazy nite, all of us were tired.. and I hosted a Xmas BBQ today. It was a nice and quiet evening with a bit of light drinking. Its been a while since the AC crew reunits and festive seasons usually brings ppl together. The thing that I love the most about Christmas is that relationships are closer eventho for a brief moment, and thats enough for me.

Should possiblities be worse to bear than certainties?

Why is that we can better bear to part in spirit than in body, and while we have the fortitude to act farewell have not the nerve to say it? On the eve of long voyages or an absence of many years, friends who are tenderly attached will separate with the usual look, the usual pressure of the hand, planning one final interview for the morrow, while each well knows that it is but a poor feint to save the pain of uttering that one word, and that the meeting will never be. Should possiblities be worse to bear than certainties? - Dickens

When am I going to Shanghai for good? I have no idea, but I just know that I'll be going there on Dec 1st for about a week, hopefully I will be able to find a good apartment. The whole situation is a bit unsettling as I've been put on hold for about 3 months now, my life is stagnant. Half of my friends think that I have already left and the other half probably won't really miss me. *Sniff Sniff* Where's my farewell party?? Hehe so ok i'm exaggerating, but I really feel like I need to move on.

And so it is..back to HK

OK... so I've been back to HK for a week now... I didn't really do anything but see my friends..hang out..have dinner..and so forth.
But I did have a very interesting weekend tho ! I had a BBQ party with the whole AC crew invited.. and a couple more guests. The nite started off where Sylvia and I both drove from Jordan to my house.. where we picked up our friends.. it was going all fine..until I reached the outskirts of Sai Kung where I accidentally hit a curb and CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? ..... busted my front tire... So we drove to a gas station hoping that some guy who works there could change the tire for me. But no luck as APPARENTLY SHELL DOESN'T change tires... And as there were at least 6 drivers (spoiled brats including me)..im pretty sure.. NO ONE had a freakin clue how to change a tire..but our saviour YU KIT (HE'S DA MAN!!!!!!!!!) So he performed the meticulous task..where all the girls were doing the "ouuuuuus" and "ahhhhhhhhs" and gushing thru the whole process. After that we went to my home and had our BBQ... for some reason... I always feel safe at home and subconciously I tend to let myself go, and as we were having our various types of alchohol (Red, White, Ice Wine, Kahlua, Whiskey, Beer etc). I guess I drank it too fast... I do have a fainted recollection of playin some games with Ah him..but thats about it.. the whole nite was blank and I woke up with an empty stomach and a bruised left arm.. INTERSTING... Apparently I even bitch slapped some ppl too..that I don't remember... Anyway... that's the consequence for having a party at my house.. hehehhehehe
So the next day I went to do my hair.. I was so out of it.. and I even wore my glasses which I think I shouldn't have. It totally gives a bad perspective for my stylist to work out something for me..Anyway, she did a good job I think but it came with a pricy tab..I think I now officially declare bankrupcy... errrrrrrrrrrr

Walking through the Appleby Gates.... or just Gate??!!!

As you may know, Appleby has gone through a lot of changes these past couple years, from the front field turning to a parking lot, doing the whole E-Learning thing and of coz the 2 GATES merging into one. Sigh... it was definitely an emotional ordeal for both Cindy and I when we visited. First, we sat through the double lunch periods, they have a fancy salad bar now.. and I almost forgot to put my tray back..hehehe. Then we walked around the science wing... then up to the "A" classrooms, had a chat with Dr. Sampson and Father Bob. And of coz I was wearing my Chapel Warden tie which gave us instant access to the Chapel. I do remember the wonderful Christmas Chapel Services.... I wish I could spend Christmas in Toronto. Then our last stop was Bailley house..sighhhhhh...... I had an inclination to just pop into our old room..(But of coz somebody is living in it).. then we saw the girls who were staying there.. I felt so warmed and jealous at the same time. Then we visitied Erin Cater's home in Bailley house (she is now the don and a visual arts instructor) I saw here guitar case..which pretty much freaked me out coz it looked the same as 8 years ago... i dunno.. maybe im just feeling nostaligic for the moment being... but damn..im serious about this 10 year summer reunion thingy.. class of 98' ... watch out!! and be prepared...!!!

Baillie House.. Shit I think my heart just stopped for a minute there..

Back of Baillie.. Did I say I wanted to run into my old room already?.. I still remember the day I first lay my eyes on this place...

And now I'm back in Toronto.. and driving a Hyndai.. I seriously I think I would get blown off the 401 if the winds get any stronger. Eva does Montreal

Get this? Eva had never seen fat women dance at a strip club before, so lo and behold, a trip to Montreal was in order with yours truly, Chueeey, and the trip leader himself, Warren FH Poon. Little did Warren know, that he was but a pitiful figurehead in the grand scheme of things. He reluctantly assumed the position, upon which drunk dai lo (chuey) grabbed him from behind, and started drilling him like two bears fucking in the forest. Now, it is common knowledge that Eva used to wrestle bears. So as you can see the story goes well beyond the realm of parental control. Ok, the truth of the trip can really be summed up in a single word: sodomy! And poutine. The 5 hr voyage was rather uneventful, save Eva mooning a schoolbus full of little kids, so we'll begin the recap at Alto's, a place of pure bliss and the best $6 you can spend outside of a cheap dirty hooker.
That, however, is another story altogether. All I can say is, those bedsheet stains will be impossible to remove.
So, for those of you who have never set foot in the city of Montreal before, let me say this: if you love tits, and you love ass, and you love french pussy, well, really there is no better place to be. So yes, after Alto's, we began our romp of the city, hopping from bar to bar, waitress to waitress. And now we are here: in our hotel room, pre-drinking with a healthy combination of vodka, cold poutine, and Red Bull. Don't forget Kronenbourg - French beer originally brewed in 1664, which is pretty much the average number of drinks Eva downs in an hour. I haven't seen her in prolly 6 to 8 years but she's still a menace to society and an addict to the Smirnoff. Her one weakness in life, however, will always be her "hoong meen" that is in full effect tonight. Later on, we will visit a club and realize the full potential of our old pedophile perversions. Poon just took a shit, but as he states, it was not as big as the one he took in Super Sex last night. Yes, read that sentence again, Poon took a shit in Super Sex - most likely the lowest point in his life except for the time he fucked that midget in the cowboy hat. Well, at least he never made out with his own sister, as Chuey did. And yes, Chuey has a very hot, very asian, sister. On that note, we shall end this post, as Eva seems to be waking up and will not appreciate us blogging on her site. Happy Halloween, and Je me souviens!

Turkey Istanbul

So it is my last journal entry of my trip..............Tukey Istanbul

Yes.. so we arrived at Sulvanmet in 6am but we had no sign of Tim...he was supposed to meet us in the Bus Stop... (I'm sorry Tim.. we didn't mean to trick u to come with us to Istanbul!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

We went to search for Hostels and so we ended up with Mavi Guesthouse.. It was a pretty nice deal.. with breakfast included... I showered...and tried to get ready.. but for some reason .. my eyes were like burning...and it felt like hell.. so I went for breakfast and hoped it felt better.. but it didn't .. so I went back to the hostel and took a power nap for like 2 hrs.. and I got like a fever in between during my sleep..then we were off to the Blue Mosque.. it was quite an experience .. very peaceful and it was Ramadan also. After that we went to the "Grand Bazaar" . I thought I did quite well on bargaining..after that we went to a very n ice Turkish Bath place.. it was amazing..and tit actually cured my cold!!!!! Lastly we went to the Ramadan festival near the Blue Mosque and we ate a lot!

2nd day at Istanbul, we woke up and went to Hagia Sphia, it was a special place with lots of art pieces.. i think it was my favourite place in Istanbul. Then we walked to Egypt Plaza..and we walked on the bridge to the New European side of Istanbul during sunset. It was a coincidence that we walked into an art gallery on our way back to home, we walked in... bought a few post cards for a very resonable price ..and ended up having dinner with the artist painter and enjoyed their Ramadan meal with them. Again, we went to Turkish bath for one last time coz it was so so enjoyable, then we went to have Turkish Pipe with the ppl we met in the art gallery .. and lastly we went to an exlusive club called "dali"... danced danced and dance.. what a way to finish our trip....... ne.. mariko chan.. ehhhhhhhh.. samishi yooo...

To conclude.. this trip was a great experience for me.. mostly becoz of the ppl I met during it.. Eventho I didn't get the emails of most of them. We were at the same place in the same time..and our paths crossed.. we inspired one another with our own stories..and that was truly the most amazing part of it.

Turkey Cappadocia

An absoultely excrutiating 10 hrs bus ride to Cappadocia, arrived at 6am in the morning and freezing cold. I'm sick already and that totally didn't help. We then checked in a cave hotel called Shoe String, it was a tiny place but it was absolutely beautiful. When we arrived in Cappadocia it was a wonderful sight when we saw the hot air balloons as a lot of ppl do those tours in the morning. Amazing .. but too high budget for us tho. Then I powered napped for 2 hours, took a hot shower then went hiking around the area. Mariko, Donja(a sweet German girl we met on our bus ride) and I went to Goreme Open Air Museum which were oddly shaped caves and churches, then we walked through Red Valley and Rose Valley which had very cute mountains which looked like ice-cream. I was sooooooo hungry as I didn't eat breakfast nor lunch but we just decided to continue to walk to Cauvsin where we walked up to the mountain of an old church. At first we decided to take the dolmus (which is the local bus system) home but we figured we could have just walked and that was another 3km... Gosh..... I was walking from 11am- 7pm non-stop!!!!!!! But it was worth it!!!

Next day in Cappadoccia, we joined a local tour which starts at 9:30am, first we went to see the Panoramic View of Goreme which was breathtaking, then we went to a Underground city where people would hide and stay during wars in old days. Then we had a short hike in Ihlara Valley and it was beautiful... I loved it!!! Then lunch at the end of the valley. We then went to Selime to see the star-wars "look alike" site and Avanos for some shopping where I bought something special for Saimun, but I seriously think I got a TOURIST price for that. Lastly, we went to see the fairy chimneys which is so cute!! But they look like my most hated enemy..... mushrooms...

Last day in Cappadocia, Mariko , Tim (an aussie we met during the tour) and I went for a hike in Pigeon Valley which was amazing and the hike actually took us to Uchisar where we had an amazingly cheap buffet lunch, I think it was the first time that Mariko and I ate so so much!!! Then after lunch we visited the castle in Uchisar, and Tim went back to Goreme coz he decided to go with us to Istanbul, so Mariko and I continued to walk the Honey Valley and White Valley. The hike may not have as much lovely landscapes to see but it was great. I have never felt so free coz I couldn't see any other living person from miles and miles away, for a moment it felt like I owned the whole Cappadocia..the best feeling anyone can have I spose....

and so to to final destination ..Istanbul....

Turkey Pamukale

I know this is not real time but I have to do the places that I visit in separate entries for easier reading.

And so we were off to Pamukale, it took a 3 hr bus ride and I was in the most unconfortable seat but still I slept most of the way. At first it was raining, but then the sun came out, Mariko and I decided to visit Pamukale today eventho we would be in the town the whole day tmr coz we were afraid that it will rain. So we walked up the white calcium mineral roads and it was very very very painful and it was even more more more painful on the way down. But it was ok, coz it was beautiful. We soaked our feets in the warm thermal water while watching the sunset. I must say it was a bit of a disappointment as from the postcards that I have seen, the site is not as beautiful as before most probably because of the massive tourists.

The next day in Pamukale we just chilled in a cafe with a panoramic view of it and slept in it for the whole afternoon. How relaxing!!

Turkey Kusadasi Ephesus

The ferry from Santorini to Kusadasi was excrutiating.. 3.5 hours to Paros.. overnite 9 hours to Samos.. then 1 and half hours to Turkey Kusadasi. Funny side note = on the boat I chatted up with a funny policeman from HK..and we were sharing the photos.. but I forgot to catch his name..so if he reads this blog..just a big "hello" to him.

At first we were supposed to meet this guy for Artemis Inn but he came late so then we went to this other inn which I was glad! We had our first taste of Apple tea... and it was delicious!!! We walked around town for a bit and cooked some wonderful pasta for our dinner. And in the common lounge I meet a lot of ppl from all around the world, it was wonderful and I feel like a true backpacker now.

Later then, Mariko and I had a game of pool .. which we pretty much sucked at..and it took over an hour to finish the game..but while we were playing, we met a wonderful couple , most definitely the cutest I've ever met. And they invited us to go dancing with them and the inn manager "Apo" which was great fun!!! I justed loved hanging around the couple coz they just had an aura of happiness and love and just lookin at them makes me feel happy too!!

And so it goes... we partied too hard that nite and we woke up late..and went to Ephesus during the afternoon, the light was good for taking pictures.. but it was still amazing to walk the ruins. Mariko had her wonderful performance of singing in an ancient theatre...and she did well .. hehe

Santorini

So we had a memorable last nite in Crete... Just dancing till 7:30 a.m. at the club .. then next day we went to Elfonesis beach... it was amazingly beautiful...then we took a bus from Chania to Heraklion...arrived there at 12:15am... then kina crashed at the city of Herakion..it was a wonderful nite to stay there coz apparently "Greece" just won the FIBA basketball Finals..and everyone was going crazy.. you see guys honking in there cars... with the greek flags..and singing and dancing.. it was fun..!!!!!!!!!!! Then I crashed in front of a library...yes..lying on the floor like a homeless person..then took a ferry at 7:30am to Santorini....

Santorini..santorini...
its the most beautiful place on earth... the sunset in Oia is absolutely magnificant... and u can just see the beautiful blue church and white houses.. everything I imagined was rite there in front of my eyes.. And today.. I met one of our neighbours.. Doug..who was a really cool guy..he introduced us to his friends who stayed at a really NICEEEEEEEEEEEEee hotel..which had a pool facing the sea.. and so we went there to swim in the pool..and hang out..it was sooooooooo beautiful...and later this evening ... we're going to FIRA..the biggest town in Santorini to go clubbing..

life is good here... haha

Can you believe this pool in the hotel?

Crete Xania

Hong Kong -> Thailand (1hr)
Thailand ground wait (1hr)
Thailand -> Dubai (6hrs)
Dubai ground wait (6hrs)
Dubai -> Athens (4.5hrs)
Athens ground wait (8hrs)
Athens -> Chania (1hr)

Thats my horrific flight schedule.. but finally I arrived to Chania.. and during my ground time in Athens I took the metro and went walking at the Acropolis by myself. After 20 hours of flight time, it was really tiring to walk up the hill, with my blood circulation all down on my legs I thought they were about to explode during my walk.

Acropolis Pathenon

Then I sat at a cafe for half an hour then headed back to the airport.
During my flight, Mariko called me on my cell and weirdly enough..my phone rang 10000 ft ABOVE the air and we were about to land. Everyone then looked at my direction and gave me the look of "You are gonna kill us all with that electronic device of yours" so i just quickly turned it off.

Anyway we survived the flight and I arrived to Xania.

Mariko and Nico picked me up then we went to a nice cafe on top of the hill then back to Fidias for my resting.

The next day we went to a nice beach and I had the nicest dinner at a cafe overlooking the shore. (we had greek salad, moukassas, pasta with pork , cheese pie, and some desert with wine) Yummy!!!!!!!

Cute kid at the beach

After that me and Mariko went partying at a pub where our roomate "Penny" was working..it was a fun and nice night, maybe too much drinking but i'll just leave it at that..

Shanghai ... Qing Dao ...

No internet for a week.. its harder than I thought!!!

During my stay at Shanghai.. I did try to look at some apartments in Shanghai... the price weren't as low as I wanted them to be.. but I must find one near my workplace. A weird incident occured as I was brought apartment hunting by a local agent. I was set to meet him near a junction of Rui Jin Lu and Zhao Ja Ban Lu at 6:00pm, as I didnt have a local number and I didn't want to spend a fortune on roaming..so I just told him what I would wear for him to identify me.. Luckily he did..then something REALLY unexpected occured...
He asked me to hop on the back of his bike (NOTE: bike as in BICYCLE not MOTORBICYCLE).. and so I did.. I tried to sit perpendicular to the back wheel..then I hit my back of my left foot on the wheel... (Painful with a bruise.. I did try to pretend that it didn't hurt)

He said: "Haven't u ever did this?"
My mind said: "Errrrrrr No.. WTF.. I have never rode on the back of a bicycle as my transportation to look for apartments before"
He said: "Don't they have this in HK?"
My mind said "Are you #@$%^& crazy? No.........!"
What I really said " I don't think so.. I haven't tried it before"

After he taught me the proper way to sit .. we were off !! We were on the roads with cars and probably a billion other bikes on the road...then we crossed a major intersection (it was the scariest moment.... I thought I was going to be hit by a bus and a car at the same time)

Finally we arrived..and the apartments were quite nice..as it was a nice neighbourhood..but I swear I have to change the freakin furniture if i do get it....hmm I did find out they had a HUGE IKEA somewhere in Shanghai...

NOW..I am in Qing dao and the weather is absolutely lovely. Nice breeze and a great coastline, it would be a great getaway in China. Aparently they have a lot of European style resident architechture and I thought I WAS in Germany for a brief moment..then it sorta lapsed when the driver started to drive on the other side of the road with oncoming traffic..but hey... that's China...

Swing Girls

Swing Girls - Directed by Shinobu Yaguchi (who also directed Waterboys)
A story about some defiant young girls who accidentally food-poisoned their school band. They are held accountable to perform for their upcoming baseball game, but the school band recovers and the girls are left with nothing but their new found love for Jazz. Eventually they start their own band, and through the hick-ups and downturns, they perform and win the love from the crowd of the music competition.
Comparing with the last film Waterboys, Swing girls undoubtly has less comedic relief as the prior but it definitely is a much more heartwarming and sentimental piece as I walked out of the cinema smiling and found myself storming to a nearby CD store and Jazz Pub. The main theme of the piece was about how life may seem boring and purposeless, you may find your love (in this case music) and be inspired and its ALL good......

oh i do love jazz...

Marching Bands of Manhattan

Just finished some bball with my friends.. Im gonna miss that a lot when Im in Shanghai.. but during da game I felt a sore throat emerging..oh pls don't let me be sick . On the side note.. I have been listening to songs from my latest fave band "Death Cab for Cutie" rigorously.. and the song that I have been playin over and over again (yes.. I tend to do that ..when i go crazy for a song) is "Marching Bands of Manhattan" ..its just so sorrowful and mellow. Anyway.. kudos to Kevin aka Wooly for introducing me to so many indie bands...eventho nobody will see this post coz i haven't told anyone about this site yet. WEIRD? maybe.. or just maybe i feel like knowin me better before lettin other ppl read n analyse me... i like being a loner and secluded.. =p

Marching Bands of Manhattan

If I could open my arms
And span the length of the isle of Manhattan
I'd bring it to where you are
Making a lake of the East River and Hudson
And if I could open my mouth
Wide enough for a marching band to march out of
They would make your name sing
And bend through alleys and bounce off other buildings

I wish we could open our eyes
To see in all directions at the same time
Oh what a beautiful view
If you were never aware of what was around you
And it is true what you said
That I live like a hermit in my own head
But when the sun shines again
I'll pull the curtains and blinds to let the light in

Sorrow drips into your heart through a pinhole
Just like a faucet that leaks and there is comfort in the sound
But while you debate half empty or half full
It slowly rises, your love is gonna drown
Your love is gonna drown

Unfortunate Series of Events

Im not gonna be specific here... lately I just had shit piling in front of me. Its funny how all of us takes a lot of things for granted. and lately I discovered that the thing that I took for granted the most is health. Sometimes people just breaks down with no warning and you can't really undo the effects. I guess we just have to take a second and check up on ourselves more coz the best care-taker of any individual would be themselves.

Welcome to HKollywood

Hello darlings..how'z it? if u're reading this that means your one of buddies..I have started this blog so to share my life and my love for movies and US TV dramas.. I have always loved movies when I was young, from watching movie showcase from CITY TV ( A Toronto TV station) to just going to cinemas. My favourite directors are Tim Burton, David Finch, Quentin Tarintino etc.
